Leslie Lewis, MPH, LDN, RD

Ms. Lewis is a registered dietitian with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Office of Public Health (OPH). At OPH, Ms. Lewis serves as the Obesity Prevention Program Manager for the Bureau of Family Health program and is nutrition consultant to the Children Special Health Services program. In this role, Ms. Lewis assists with program and policy development on various projects related to Maternal and Child Health. In particular she manages the implementation of the Nutrition and Physical Activity Self Assessment of Child Care Centers, or NAP SACC, program in child care centers across the state. NAP SACC is an initiative aimed at increasing stronger nutrition and physical activity policies and practices in the childcare setting. Ms. Lewis also manages the Louisiana Child Care Health Consultant program and supervises the Bureau of Family Health breastfeeding staff and projects. She also serves on the pediatric obesity mini-CoIIN and the Children’s Healthy Weight CoIIN.

Ms. Lewis is the co-author of several publications. In 2011 she was selected to participate in the Emerging Leaders in MCH Nutrition Training Institute. She currently serves as the Chair of the MCH Nutrition Council for the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists (ASPHN).  She also serves as the Action for Healthy Kids liaison and is on the Obesity Prevention Council for ASPHN.  Ms. Lewis received her MPH from Tulane School of Public Health in 2003 and a BS in Chemistry from Loyola University New Orleans in 1999.
